The competition was open to all ages, with entries from children as young as two years up to several of the village’s retired residents, and including an entry from Dirleton Castle and The Open Arms Hotel.
Twenty-seven entrants were judged in two categories: scarecrows that made the judges smile the most, and best-dressed scarecrows.
Among the comments received towards the competition was:
- “I took my two young kids on the Scarecrow Trail after school pick-up this afternoon.
- “The village was alive with happy kids running from scarecrow to scarecrow with their families.
- “There was a real air of excitement about the village and everyone, young and old, seemed to be very much enjoying themselves.
- “An afternoon of joy, much welcomed by all in these times!”
- Winners have now been selected, with the judging panel having the difficult choice of picking their top scarecrow.
All scarecrows are marked on a Scarecrow Trail, copies of which can be picked up from beneath the village noticeboard.
