Dirleton Village Association (the DVA) is a Scottish Registered Charity (SCO17163). The charitable aims of the Association are set out in our Constitution and are primarily to preserve and improve the character of Dirleton village, encouraging high standards of planning and architecture through stimulating public awareness, co-operating with bodies with similar interests, and pursuing these aims using methods of communication compatible with the Association’s charitable nature. The DVA has annually elected office holders and committee.
Membership of the DVA is open to anyone interested in these aims, whether a resident or not. Membership subscriptions are currently £5 for an adult, £10 for a family and £3 for a senior citizen. The membership year runs from September to August for one year but you can join at any time during that year. If you are interested in joining the DVA please get in touch with us using the Contact Form on this website. Or print off a Membership Form. Membership of the DVA entitles you, your family and visitors to favourable entry rates to Dirleton Castle.
DVA Meetings usually take place on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30 in the Kirk Hall excluding April and July, and alternate Open meetings which everyone in the village is welcome to attend, with meetings of the Committee, which residents may also attend if they wish. If there are important issues to discuss outside these times, additional meetings will be scheduled and announced on the website in the News section.
The individual open meetings are listed in the Events Diary.
While Covid restrictions preclude both Open and Committee meetings, these are being held on line via Zoom.
The DVA performs a valuable role in the community and we would encourage you to support this through membership and/or donations. For example, during 2015 we have closely monitored the effect of the Main Issues Report and other individual planning applications on Dirleton and the surrounding area, supported the local Primary School with a significant donation towards the purchase of staging, raised money to provide and maintain summer hanging baskets around the village green, and improved communications within the village and for visitors by setting up this website and organising a new village noticeboard.
