Dirleton Scarecrow Trail 2024 launched

Thanks to support from the Fete & Games and Dirleton Market on the  Green, the Village Scarecrow Competition is back!

This year’s competition will run for 3 weeks from 7th to 27th October.
Our Scarecrow Trails attract hundreds of visitors from across East  Lothian, so we hope to see lots of you – of all ages – joining in the fun
again to help create another memorable Trail.
Scarecrows can be made of anything, and be traditional, modern, funny, fancy – whatever you like! The only requirement is that the materials can withstand the Scottish climate, as all entries will form part of the outdoor Scarecrow Trail. If the grass below the Doocot has been cut, please feel free to help yourselves to the hay to stuff your scarecrow.
Once made, your scarecrow should be displayed at your gate or in your front garden, if you have one. If not, or your garden is hidden from view, is off the beaten track, or is outside the main village (e.g., in Archerfield, East Fenton, North Berwick, Gullane etc.), scarecrows can be placed on benches around the village.
Key dates are:
• Scarecrows completed and displayed: from 7th October
• Judging: 9th or 10th October
• Scarecrows taken down: by 28th October
